Halbert Construction Company, Inc. was founded 20 years ago by Michael Halbert, President.
Mr. Halbert started his career in the building industry as a laborer in 1970. With a partner in 1974, he started his first company in San Diego.
From the beginning, he was part of a construction team that did everything from foundation to roof work and everything in between for residential construction and remodels.
Mr. Halbert received his contractor’s license in 1978 and by 1980 he and another partner formed a new business. This partnership lasted until 1983 when Mr. Halbert decided to form his own company. He had finally found the opportunity to dedicate his efforts in developing a company built on the principles of client/owner rapport (give the client what he wants), a team approach with his employees and a practice of fair play and honesty in all business operations.
Starting small with limited financial resources, Mr. Halbert worked out of his home in La Mesa. Through residential construction and remodeling, he built a reputation of quality work at competitive prices. In 1987, Mr. Halbert incorporated and branched into commercial construction.
From his humble beginnings as a laborer, Michael Halbert has shaped the way Halbert Construction Company, Inc. does business today. Low-cost, high-speed telecommunication data lines and computers may have changed the way construction projects are managed and evaluated, but we exceed our clients’ business objectives by utilizing what we have learned throughout our history and applying new technologies and modern construction techniques. All the way through this process of innovation and automation, one thing has remained constant throughout the changes: the relationship between the client and contractor is still based on the traditional values instilled and practiced daily.
